NO thoughts

As I sit here at my computer looking at my blog I realize that I don't have a single thing in mind to blog about!!

Is that sad? That I have had nothing happen today that is worth talking about?

Is my life just boring? Nah, I don't think it is boring I just think I live in the midwest and the only thing happening right now is SNOW!

So I guess I will just go to bed!

For 10 years after Jim and I married I was told I would never have any children, not by just one doctor but by three! We had put our name on an adoption list and waited and waited and we just decided to move from Cincinnati, where Jim grew up, to Springfield where I grew up and close to my parents . Jim had lost both of his parents four years apart so he felt that he wanted to be close to my family too.
We bought a home from a couple who was to be our neighbors since they built a new home behind us. Sharon had gone to an infertility specialist in Dayton and referred me. I had actually put it off because I didn't want yet another doctor to tell me I could not have children.
Ironically, after I went, Dr. Moritz read my reports, did a couple of tests and said "You will be pregnant in five months! Five months later I was pregnant! And Feb 1, 1981 Lucas James Rayburn, first boy in the family in 28 years, was born. The hospital was alive with family members who were so happy that we were finally having a baby but even more because he was a boy! The hospital employees said they could not remember the last time they had a family so excited over the birth of a baby.
Ironically, that baby who was the first boy in 28 years turned 28 today! And has a son of his own! I can not even begin to explain the joy I felt and feel. God was good to me and I thank him daily for my kids.

That's all you have to do... just leave a comment & then post about it on your blog, then the 1st 3 people to leave you a comment & agree to pay it forward to 3 more people on their blog ~ you send them a gift ! This is such a GREAT idea. You never know when you'll get a "surprise" gift from a blogging buddy ! SO... Who's first ??

Snow pics

I have tried for weeks to get a pic like this of my Eli-boy and his PawPaw! Eli LOVES this snow and he begs to go out in it everyday but it has been soooo cold.. PawPaw drove the bad roads to get to him just to take him out to play in it. Everytime he would get the second part of the snow man on top of the first ball, Eli would rush in and knock it down! LOL!! Is this picture not precious? Eli is one lucky little boy to have a Paw Paw who loves him so much!

While this looks like Eli has fallen and is getting assistance in getting up he is really protesting going inside! He just wants to stay out there so much and play. A wise Paw Paw knows when it is time to go inside. The little guys face was so red. There will be other days.

A boy and his dog! Little Man was his name when I rescued him from an abusive home but he has become Weenie at my daughters home. There is a show, Oswald I think, where an Octopus has a dachshund named Weenie. Eli loves that show and hence Little Man was renamed. I am so smitten by my grandsons. I just wish Nolan was closer so I could get more pics of him!

Snow days!

Well we have been snowed in or "iced" in for several days now. It's starting to get tense in here. Nerves are getting thin. I have never seen Annie so ready to go back to school!
Poor Jim has taken his snow blower to our driveway so many times and then on to my parents to do theirs.. He is such a hard worker.
We got about 3 inches of ice underneath all of that snow and were put on a Level 2 emergency meaning no one should be on the road unless it is absolutely necessary. Living where I am, I am faced with open fields that drift to the max..You couldn't even see my road until this afternoon when they finally decided to start plowing. School is on a two hour delay already for tomorrow. I don't know what Annie will do if she can't get out of here.
As for me..I was able to sort and organize 20 drawers of scrapbooking stuff. Everything is in it's category and I was amazed at what I didn't remember I had. I even stayed up until 4 AM this morning to clean my bedroom closest! I took a 30 gal trash bag of clothes out to the living room to head to Goodwill, I managed to get a 30 gal trash bag of trash to the road and I have several packages that are going to be going out for some nice RAKs. It feels good to have all of that done but tomorrow is another day and it's back to work I'm sure....

Organization

Two years ago the end of February, I was all set to turn my small bedroom into a craft room for scrapping. I had the plans in my head and had talked to DH about installing counter top and peg board so I could hang my stuff and see it more easily and consequently use more of it. What is it they say about best laid plans????

It was at that time that Grace and Julie ran out of money at the assisted living center they were living in and they had to move... Gracie, 89 had dementia and Alzheimer's so I placed her in a very nice facility that could give her the care that I couldn't..Then the Ju-Ju, 46 came to live with us. Guess where she ended up? Yep..in my "dream" scraproom!!!

I guess I should explain that Grace and Julie are mom and sister to my best friend all through school. Twelve years! She ended up moving to Florida in 2001 and I began taking care of those two along with the assisted living center for 6 years. Julie is Down's and goes to work each day at a special place that does jobs for the government and local businesses. She has been in that system for 40 + years and to her sister's knowledge there wasn't anything like what she has here, in Florida.

Three short months after moving Gracie passed away and it would have just been to hard on Julie to try to move to Florida and start a new life especially since Debbie is a nurse and works very long hours.

Well to get where I was going with all of this...I took my Christmas tree down today...YES, I said today!! lol..just to busy! I had to pack my stash into three seven drawer storage units. They are the typical ones you see at Ikea I guess...and my bedroom is full of stuff. I had taken the drawers out to my garage last summer to get them out of my living room but after I took the tree down ..They came back!! I hate that I don't have a room for my stuff. I would really love to be organized but I guess Julie takes precedence over my hobby... Maybe one day I will have that dream room but today I will just keep running out to the living room in search of that perfect embellishment, chipboard, ink, stamp,..you name it. At least it is not in the garage and the winter weather any longer..

My treat for the day!

I was reading my emails this morning and I had one from Kimba that just put the biggest smile on my face!! You see I have been wrestling with my blog for sometime now trying to pretty it up a little and have not been very successful. If you read my Header it says something about me being a middle aged woman trying to keep up with today's technology and I have to tell you I suck at it pretty bad!

I have asked my girls who each have a Facebook and MySpace to help me but they insist that they are not familiar with the blog so I was left to deal with it myself. SO...last night I sat at this computer and figured out how to get a free background for Valentine's Day and then Annie did stop in to help me figure out how to get my play list on it. Love that Toby Keith!!! You should see my wallpaper for my computer!!! He is a hottie!

Anyway, let me get back on track here...lol... So I'm thinking I have my blog looking kinda cute even tho there aren't that many people looking at it, but it made me feel good just the same. And then I get my email this morning and there is one from Kimba with the subject..LOVE, LOVE, LOVE..your blog!! What a validation for me!! I just have no confidence in myself and wasn't sure if I had done well and there she was giving me accolades saying my blog ROCKS!! So thanks again Kimba!! It just made my day..
