Be-Attitudes Blog Hop

Be_Attitudes Blog Hop

Welcome to the Be-Attitudes Faith Blog Hop!  Every month we choose a theme with which to honor Christ and become closer to Him.  We then create a project to reflect that theme and boldly post it on our blogs so that the whole world sees that even our talents belong to Him! This month we have chosen the Beatitudes found on Mathew 5:3:12 and we invite you to hop through our blogs to see the Lord’s Glory manifested through the work of our hands and the stories He has written in our lives.  If you arrived from Wendy's blog, you are in the right place.  If you just happened to land here, make sure that you hop on over to www.mypapertreehouse.blogspot.com to begin the journey.  Know that we have been praying for you and hope that the Lord would bring you just a bit closer to Himself…
In Matthew 5:3-12 we find the well known Beatitudes.  This portion of Scripture is very peculiar because every statement begins with “Blessed are those…” and yet the attribute that is mentioned right after is NOT something desirable before the eyes of the world.
Look at the list of attributes along with the blessed reward:
Poor in spirit: Kingdom of Heaven
Mourn: comfort
Meek: inherit the earth
Hunger and thirst for righteousness: will be filled
Merciful: will be shown mercy to
Pure in heart: will see God
Peacemakers: called children of God
Persecuted because of righteousness: kingdom of heaven
“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you

If we were to be honest, we would all say that none of us would like to be considered poor in spirit, or be caught in the midst of mourning.  Meekness is considered a sign of weakness and in America Hunger and Thirst for righteousness is replaced by hunger and thirst for worldly acceptance.  It is very difficult to be merciful and pure in heart for our hearts are always seeking to satisfy our own needs; and we are not willing to make peace if that peace requires that we would submit to someone else’s authority.  We do not want to be made fun of, or persecuted, or bad mouthed…  Yet all of these things the LORD calls blessed!

The reason why they are Blessed is because only when we have these attitudes can we truly see ourselves for who we are and God for who He is.  Only when we see the depravity of our being and the sin that enslaves us, can we be set free by the only ONE that is Pure and Holy!  May He grant us the privilege of being called BLESSED by Him because in us are found the Be-Attitudes.

I have chosen to highlight, Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God..
I work with developmentally disabled people and in my opinion they definitely represent the Pure in Heart.  They have the greatest attitudes and very kind tender spirits.  For Christmas last year I took my clients and Julie to have their pictures taken for us to make gifts for their families for Christmas.  I am legal guardian to Julie a 51 year old woman with Down's Syndrome.

Her sister and I have been friends since first grade and we were in the 4th grade when the Ju-Ju was born.  Little did I know all those years ago that I would become her guardian and be taking care of her like I am.
Julie has an IQ of a five year old..How much more pure in heart can you get?  It is encouraging to me that she will spend eternity in Heaven..We need to be more like these precious people..positive the majority of the time, kind, caring..their way of life is second nature to them but we so called "normal" people need to work at it and pray hard that God will forgive us and help us to stay pure in heart, but the scripture is there so I encourage you to strive to be pure in heart so that you can claim the promise...

There is no greater gift than that of finding Christ, but we would like to bless a group of you with some Grand Prizes
To qualify, like Paper Tree House Studio in Facebook, become a follower of their blog, and leave a comment.  Those that choose to participate by creating a project that follows the theme will have a greater chance of winning, so make sure that you create something or share your own story in your blog to then come back and share with us your creation and thoughts.

I have some personal blog candy to offer up..

First Day of Autumn Blog Hop

Fall is a wonderful season full of color and the air is crisp, you can hear football fans screaming to the top of their lungs for their favorite team.  While thinking of ideas for this hop I found myself working on an item that is probably considered out of date now but I still love them and that is a shaker box..

I used Bazzill cardstock and cut my circles..For the back I lapped two circles to make more of an oval shape. To pop the center and to keep the beads from escaping I used core board and cut a circle and then cut out the center. I think there has to be a better way but I have not yet devised it..lol   I used a transparency and printed the pumpkin face on it before assembling.  Next I punched a small leaf and wrapped fine wire to make it look like the tendrils of the vine.  You may have to look close to see that one..lol   It will probably not be considered for a masterpiece but I love it and am anxious to put it on a layout..

Now for some blog candy..  I have a rubber stamp set of lowercase letters, a journal box and some other goodies.  It is called Nightengale's song and comes with a storage case and  mat.  I am unable to post a pic due to going out of town and lack of time..I am getting better at organization but not quite there yet..:)  I am going to have to ask you to trust me that it is worth the effort of commenting.  I would love it if you would choose to be a follower..I am only 15 away from 100!!  Thanks for stopping by...

My surprise today!!

As you get to know me you will realize that my mother passed down her love of nature..I remember riding in the car and she would be ooing and ahhing about clouds and tree colors and you name it..I would just roll my eyes thinking.."Really?"  I mean come on...

UNTIL:  Yes it happened..I fast found myself becoming my MOTHER!!  Then I was blessed with three grandsons who are as normal as a boy can get!!  They love toads and worms..you name it..  Eli lives close to me so we get more time together than I get with Nolan and Everett..This summer we have watched as mud daubers picked my porch to build their nests..Did you know that there are three types of mud daubers?  Neither did I until we looked them up..there is a pipe organ dauber, a black/yellow dauber and a blue dauber..The pipe organ is just like it sounds..there will be cylindrical tubes side by side, looking like a pipe organ made out of mud.  The black/yellow is the one that Eli and I watched all summer..She would come in and pack that mud into little 1" cylinders, go sting a spider and bring it back and lay an egg on it and then close the hole up tight smoothing out the entire nest as she went.  The Blue dauber is lazy..this girl finds an old nest and uses it rather than work hard all summer!  Even in the insect world there are the lazies!!  lol  They do not sting unless antagonized and I assure you all we did was watch..lol

Then I had a weekend with all three of the boys and they were catching lightening bugs, toads, night crawlers!  I have great pictures of the event..So you can see we enjoy it all..In my previous post I have a spider there..Everyone shakes their head at me because if a spider is in my house I catch it and throw it outside..unless of course it is those black jumping things and they deserve everything they get!!  lol

As I am sitting here at my computer table, out of the corner of my eye I spy a locust shell!  Eli is fascinated with locust and we saw nearly every stage of it's entry into this world.  We missed it coming out of the ground but we saw it walk up the tree, develop the shell, crack the shell, hang halfway out of it and then finally attach to the tree to let it's wings dry..So fascinating!

So to get to today's story..I work with developmentally disabled and my client and I went to the grocery today..  Before we went in I saw some Asters on clearance for $4 so I picked one up and put it in my cart..As we were walking I looked at the blooms and there he was!!!  DO you see him?

There was a grasshopper sitting in my plant!!!!  He rode all over the store with us!!  As I was checking out they charged me $6.99 not the $4 so I went outside and got the sign , came back in with my receipt  and showed it too them..They have a policy that if it is not in the system correct, you get $5 and  the overcharge..
I tried to explain that   I only wanted the difference but she insisted!  I said..  I get all my money back, plus the flower and the grasshopper for free!!!  Man!!  I love my Kroger's!!!   LOL

I put the flower in my trunk complete with the grasshopper because I wanted him to have a grassy place to call home, not concrete..When I unloaded my flower..and this might creep some of you out..lol..he was not on the plant!!  So I looked all over my trunk, in my grocery sacks as I unloaded them, still no hopper..I looked all over the plant again this time in the greenery part and still nothing so right now I have no idea where he is!!  LOL!!  But that is fine with me..He'll show up somewhere!!  And he will have a better chance of surviving than he did in town with all that concrete..

8. Indira - http://craftyhomemade.blogspot.com/
10. Bobbi Jo - http://sweetsassydiva.com
DAY TWO (September 16)

Now for my contribution to the hop.. I have found this 9 picture template that is perfect for showing many aspects of fall.  I enjoyed it so much that I have used it for both pages of my 2 page layout.  First I did pictures of my two girls when they were smaller playing in the leaves.  I mean what is fall with out a huge leaf pile, right?  The title Having a Ball is a quote printed on vellum and I went from behind to color the letters with colored pencils and I inked the edges.  At the bottom I used wire leaves with autumn colored beads.  The center row picture to the left is our black cat in case you can't make out what that black blob is..LOL
The next 9 photo layout is just things that I see during the fall season that I enjoy.  I was blessed to have a mother who loved all things nature!  So I hope you are not creeped out by my spider here but the gsons and I love to find all of God's critters! What would fall be without awesome colors in the trees, corn turning brown in the fields, goldenrod, lots of goldenrod, my mailbox, that doesn't look anything like that now!!   LOL  and clouds!  Oh my the beauty that God shows through the clouds if we only look up!   And of course, once again, my girls!!  Katie Rose and Annie Leigh!

With all of the images I felt minimal decorations so I matted each picture and then just put the four leaf brads in the center.  I hope you enjoyed my layouts as much as I have..Fall is just a beautiful season..there is no getting around that! :)

9 - 11 Remembrance Blog Hop

Welcome to a blog hop devoted to the remembrance of the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11th.
If you just happened by my blog, then you need to go to : http://tamboscreations.blogspot.com to start at the beginning.

The terrorist attack against our nation, which happened a decade ago, is a long time for some.  However for many, the day feels all too close. The deeply seared memories of the human sufferings and acts of heroism, which took place on that day, changed our nation.

The nation was in shock when terrorists decided to hijack our airplanes and turn them into weapons.  It was beyond anyone’s belief that something so horrific could happen on our own soil.  It would be one thing if it were just the destruction of the Twin Towers or damage to the Pentagon and a field in Shanksville, PA, but almost 3,000 people perished, from the attack, leaving a scar on the soul of America.

Americans came together as one, in the emotional aftermath of 9-11. We were united by grief, had compassion for those who died along with their families, and showed loyalty to our country.

Please join the country in a moment of silence on Sunday morning, at 8:46 (Eastern Time). This should be a time to reflect on what we all lost, as well as on the courage and common purpose that lived and still resides, deep within the American people.

Ten of us blogging friends would like you to join in this day of remembrance, by stopping by each blog to see a project made for the tenth anniversary of 9-11.

If you get lost along the way, here is the lineup:
  1. Tami - http://tamboscreations.blogspot.com/
  2. Lynne - http://slasewcraftiness.blogspot.com/
  3. Vicki - http://mawmawsthoughts.blogspot.com/
  4. Amy - http://www.lovetocrop.com
  5. Nicole- http://crashingcreatively.blogspot.com/
  6. Lisa - http://bitbythecricutbug.blogspot.com/
  7. Susan: http://susanascorner.blogspot.com/
  8. Lynda - http://memoriesintyme.blogspot.com/
  9. Theresa - http://www.thescrapbookingqueen.com/
  10. Jearise - http://lorbysworld.blogspot.com/

Now for my contribution:  As I prepared for this layout I thought..no problem..I knew what I wanted to say,  I had my elements rounded up for it..then as I sat down to do it, all of those emotions came flooding back..It truly felt like I was standing back and watching myself react to the film footage on TV..  My layout is basic..I mean how can you gussy up a layout that represents, death, heartache, lives lost?   It is my goal to follow it with a layout that shows perseverance and fortitude and a nation coming together..It will come, but for this blog it is about remembering.
The first page shows the towers before and the journaling is how I felt at that moment..It says: " Like most everyone, I remember exactly where I was the minute the plane crashed into the tower.  Standing in the Commons area of The Inn at Fox Run where I was working..  One particular gentleman, Don, age 65 and a stroke patient started crying because he was afraid he would be called up to go to war.
The devastation was almost to much to bear.  We were fixed to the TV like strong magnets were holding us in place.
I can't even begin to imagine the emotions of those who lost loved ones."

My second page shows a picture of the first hit, next a smaller picture of my first layout , a picture of the flag flying at ground zero showing that America is strong and will continue to fight and that we will rebuild and learn from this travesty.  The FLAG is our sign of HOPE!  Then there is a picture of Bin Laden  saying that he is believed to have been responsible for all of this.  It says he was captured, killed and buried at sea this year, 10 years later, or so we are told.  I didn't see a dead body, did you?
I struggled even putting his picture on here..No double matting, no nothing..just white cardstock so I could journal..I didn't want to give him anything but unfortunately he is a principal reason this happened..The statue of liberty I received from another group in a swap..

I will also be offering blog candy.  Please  leave me a way to contact you. I will choose the winner through Random.Org and announce the winner by Tuesday, Sept. 13th.

Disclaimer:  The pictures I used are from People magazine and are being used for a strictly PERSONAL use in my layouts for my albums.. No money is going to made from this layout.
Your next stop on the hop is Amy  http://www.lovetocrop.com

Why?

Can't I just get my table cleaned off and start scrapping or card making?  I spend all my time taking care of my family, my client, and any one else who needs something..Why do I not allow the same attention to myself?  Why do I feel guilty when I  take time for me?  I need to face the fact that I am NEVER going to have a perfectly clean house and laundry caught up...

Labor of Love Halloween Blog Hop

http://www.cardmonkey-business.blogspot.com/   If you want to visit a blog hop that is doing something wonderful for children you need to go to this blog I just posted!!  Women from around the world are making Halloween banners to hang and decorate in a Pediatric Special Care in Bucks County, PA.  They are actually making and sending these banners to Ellen to take to the facility to decorate for these seriously ill and special needs kids from birth to age 21!  This is so right up my alley I wish I could have gotten in on it but I will do my part by posting about it..I wish I knew how to get the button on here but hey this will have to do!

The hop runs from 9/2 -9/5.  Here's the neat thing tho..days 2 and 3 have one set of participants and days 4 and 5 have another set of participants!  It is incredible the response they have gotten to this blog..Even if you are not a Halloween celebrator hop over anyway and see how they made the different banners and use the inspiration to make a banner for a different occasion..I promise you that you will not be disappointed!!

Oh did I mention there are boat loads of blog candy to be won from the individuals as well as from many of your favorite sponsors??  What are you waiting for???  Get hoppin!!
